|
The causal attributions of teachers and students on the student's academic achievement are compared. The results show significant differences among them: the students attribute comparatively more to the teacher's competence, teachers' biases and tests, while the teachers attribute to ability and interest more than the students; moreover, qualitative differences changing the sign of the perceived causes appear between teacher and student. In the framework of causal attribution theory the most appropriate teachers' behaviours in the classroom to induce more functional attributions which enhance success expectations, selfesteem and positive feelings about learning are discused. |
